The Caring4Girls programme driven by the Imbumba Foundation tackles the plight of impoverished girls who often miss school during their menstrual cycles due to the lack of sanitary pads.
The aim of the Caring4Girls programme, which is a Mandela Day project, is to ensure access to much-needed sanitary towels so girls may stay in school, and ensure the development and growth of young South African women with dignity.

A roundtable dialogue dedicated to Madiba the Lawyer in which it unloaded the ethics and values that characterised his life and profession and its relevance for reshaping the ethical character of the legal profession today. The event was organised by the Nelson Mandela Foundation in collaboration with ProBono, the panellists were Lwando Xaso, Sahm Venter, and Albie Sachs. The dialogue started by the panellist discussing their own views on Nelson Mandela the lawyer then followed by the members of the audience interacting and asking the panellist questions.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation pays tributes to Lucia Raadschelders, with family, friends, and colleagues. Following Lucia’s wishes, it was a modest occasion, with the emphasis on storytelling. Three of her nine siblings travelled from the Netherlands to attend. Her brother Jan Raadschelders shared reminiscences from her childhood. A number of her former Operation Vula comrades attested to her courage and her deep commitment to the struggle for freedom in South Africa and elsewhere. Close friends told stories of her love for wilderness and the way in which she had made peace with mortality. Colleagues praised her professionalism as an archivist. And the Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands shared a message of condolence.
The Nelson Mandela Foundation with the Graça Machel Trust, Kuhluka Movement, and Zoleka Mandela Foundation hosted an event as part of the "Remembrance period" to mark five years since Madiba’s passing and to recognize the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence.

The audience shared their memories of the day and made statements regarding Nelson Mandela leadership and his role in media.

The Struggle T-shirts: Public Testimony and Political Protest Exhibition Photographs. The exhibition is curated by Frances Andrew and draws on the extensive South African History Archive collection of struggle T-shirts.
The notion of using a T-shirt as a way of making a political statement first came into prominence in South Africa during the anti-apartheid movement, and “struggle T-shirts” were worn not only at rallies and political events, but also at funerals, where special designs were created to celebrate the life and legacy of deceased leaders, and at the release of those leaders who were serving sentences in apartheid jails.
Calls for the release of Mandela and others were emblazoned on many T-shirts both in South Africa and the world. Described by Andrew as “a political imperative for which the physical self was willingly placed in direct danger in order to resist”, the struggle T-shirt was used particularly to unite activists during mass protests by organisations such as the United Democratic Front, civic associations and workers’ unions.
However, outside of political protests and rallies these T-shirts also become ordinary, everyday pieces of clothing, which, as Andrew explains, is where “the true power of the T-shirt was activated”.
The Nelson Mandela Foundation collaborated with the Socio-Economic Rights Institute (SERI) to launch the exhibition Insurgent Citizens- Reflections on Protest in Democratic South Africa at the Foundation’s Centre of Memory. The event was facilitated by Sumaya Hendricks and the Former Public Protector Advocate Thuli Madonsela was the keynote speaker.
