President Nelson Mandela last night, Sunday, 25 February 1996, consulted Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi telephonically on the date and venue of the meeting with KwaZulu-Natal amakhosi, which is to precede the planned imbizo. It was agreed that the meeting will take place on 15 March 1996 at the Nongoma residence of the former Commissioner-General of KwaZulu.
The date and venue of the meeting have also been proposed to His Majesty King Zwelethini who has indicated that he will be available. The leader of the African National Congress in KwaZulu-Natal, Jacob Zuma, has also accepted the proposed arrangements.
