Freedom of the City of Glasgow

The Scroll was accepted on behalf of Mandela by Vice-President of Nigeria, Dr Ekwueme (Alex). Presented by Lord Provost Mr Michael Kelly. The scroll, known as the Burgess Ticket, was to be kept in Government House, Lagos and "when M gains M's freedom in I hope, the not too distant future, he will be able to come to Lagos to receive it"

Brent Council awarded Nelson Mandela the Freedom of the Borough in recognition of his lifelong connection with the borough

Mandela addressed the Willesden Trades Council in 1962. The honour was supposed to have been conferred in April 1990 when Mandela visited Brent but it failed to get the necessary support. Hence this was only done in 2013.

Peace Connection 2006 Award from the Bosnia and Herzegovina Center for Peace and Multi-ethnic Cooperation, Mostar

"Peace Connection 2006" Mostar Trophy awarded to Mr Mandela, Bosnia and Herzegowina. The award is given every year in conjunction with the anniversary of the reconstruction of Mostar's Old Bridge to honour people from different walks of life who have contributed to peace and multi-ethnic cooperation.
