Dialogue on revisiting the promise of a new South Africa. Can South Africa be free if women are not free? The dialogue was organised by Soul City and held at Nelson Mandela Foundation. Panelists were Mr Zane Dangor (United Nations Population Fund), Mr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi (Economic Freedom Fighter), Ms Anne Githuku-Shongwe and Ms Tamara Braam (Indepedent Gender Consultant).

Celebration of 10 years of Mandela Day at Germiston Civic Centre, the event was organised by the City of Ekurhuleni in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation. The City of Ekurhuleni invited city veterans that are 100 years to the celebration.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation pays tributes to Lucia Raadschelders, with family, friends, and colleagues. Following Lucia’s wishes, it was a modest occasion, with the emphasis on storytelling. Three of her nine siblings travelled from the Netherlands to attend. Her brother Jan Raadschelders shared reminiscences from her childhood. A number of her former Operation Vula comrades attested to her courage and her deep commitment to the struggle for freedom in South Africa and elsewhere. Close friends told stories of her love for wilderness and the way in which she had made peace with mortality. Colleagues praised her professionalism as an archivist. And the Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands shared a message of condolence.
