President Michelle Bachelet of Chile, presenting the 12th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture on 9 August 2014. This event marks the 52nd anniversary of Mr Mandela’s capture on 5 August 1962. The lecture was held at the historic City Hall in the City of Cape Town, a significant and poignant venue, as it is from this location that Mr Mandela gave his inaugural address to the people of South Africa after being released from prison in 1990. The theme of the 2014 lecture is "Building social cohesion through active citizenship". The reception was held immediately after the lecture.
The 11th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture with Doctor Mo Ibrahim. The event was held at the University of South Africa (UNISA) on the 17th of August 2013. The theme for the lecture was “Building social cohesion”: a call for all South Africans to work towards a united, cohesive, democratic and national society. Dr Ibrahim’s address focused on the need for social cohesion not only in South Africa, but also between the 54 nations that make up the African continent.
Professor Ariel Dorfman reads to the students at Bertrams primary school as part of his Mandela Day commitments. After the reading the children had the opportunity to ask Professor Dorfman questions. Professor Dorfman used the reading as an opportunity to encourage the Grade 1, 2, 3 and 4 learners to read and to start writing, especially if they have the need to express themselves.
Conversation with Prof Muhammad Yunus, in collaboration with WDB Group (Women’s Development Businesses), SEF (Small Enterprise Foundation) and AMFISA (Association of Micro Finance Institutions of South Africa). An all-day dialogue session with thought leaders, South Africa’s foremost social entrepreneurship patrons and practitioners, the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry, civil society, government, and members of the South African media. Other partners such as the WDB, African Development Bank (ADB), Banking Council, Independent Development Trust (IDT) and other microfinance institutions including the broader community of social entrepreneurs participated in this session. Professor Yunus aimed at stimulating a robust dialogue and conversation about microcredit, microfinance or social business as a tool to address poverty, based on the Grameen Bank model.
In conversation with Sello Hatang, he was one of the Trek4Mandela climbers in August 2019, he made a presentation and shared his experiences with the Nelson Mandela Foundation staff facilitated by Samantha Mashapa.

The fifth anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s passing away; a dialogue on the media coverage of the Nelson Mandela’s passing held at Nelson Mandela Foundation. The dialogue was facilitated by Tim Modise a veteran journalist, the panellist were Thabo Masebe Gauteng spokesperson, Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) at the time of Mandela’s passing, Sally Burdett head of eNCA news anchor team, Milton Nkosi, British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Africa bureau chief, Angie Kapelianis South African Broadcasting Corporation national radio current affairs editor, Mondli Makhanya City Press editor-in-chief, and Leanne Manas South African TV presenter and media personality. The audience shared their memories of the day and made statements regarding Nelson Mandela leadership and his role in media.
The Nelson Mandela Foundation partnered with the University of South Africa to remember Nelson Mandela Foundation five years after his passing away. The event was headlined by internationally renowned author and activist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The Nelson Mandela Foundation pays tributes to Lucia Raadschelders, with family, friends, and colleagues. Following Lucia’s wishes, it was a modest occasion, with the emphasis on storytelling. Three of her nine siblings travelled from the Netherlands to attend. Her brother Jan Raadschelders shared reminiscences from her childhood. A number of her former Operation Vula comrades attested to her courage and her deep commitment to the struggle for freedom in South Africa and elsewhere. Close friends told stories of her love for wilderness and the way in which she had made peace with mortality. Colleagues praised her professionalism as an archivist. And the Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands shared a message of condolence.

A visit by two World Economic Forum delegates Alekhine Veloso and David Conolly and Mpumi Mabuza from Brand South Africa to the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Sello Hatang and Zanele Riba gave them a tour of the Archive. Sello handed each delegate of the World Economic Forum with a copy of “The Prison Letters of Nelson Mandela” book.
A visit to the Nelson Mandela Foundation by High Commission of the Republic of Seychelles Marie-Antoinette Rose-Duarte and the second secretary of the High Commission of the Republic of Seychelles Terry R.Rose. Sello Hatang gave them a tour to the archive, the permanent exhibition and Nelson Mandela’s office. Sello presented Marie-Antoinette Rose-Duarte with a copy of The Prison Letters of Nelson Mandela book.
