Nelson Mandela Foundation staff activities for the International Mandela Day at Ebenezer, a home for children in Walkerville. The activities of the day included cleaning, working in the bakery, working in the garden, reading to babies and children, and singing.
Launch of the "Play your Part" Campaign by the International Marketing Council (IMC) at the Nelson Mandela Foundation. The launch was during a joint media event between the IMC and the NMF, announcing IMC’s contribution to the Nelson Mandela 67 Minutes of Service Campaign.
The 3rd consecutive Nelson Mandela Day Marathon was held on 31 August 2014 under the rules of IAAF, AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races Distance) and the KZN Athletics Club. The event has 3 raced categorized. It starts at the Manaye Hall in Imbali and finish at The Nelson Mandela Capture Site, Howick. The above mentioned races each meander through the beautiful breath taking landscape of uMgungundlovu District Municipality passing historic sites along the way and ending at the Nelson Mandela Capture Site. Runners who complete the race are awarded unique Nelson Mandela Marathon medal which is symbolic of the day South Africa gained its freedom.
Scores of volunteers joined Vodacom staff at Vodaworld in Midrand assisting with the task of providing 17 000 food parcels for distribution to families in need. Volunteers came from, amongst others, the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Blue Bulls, Orlando Pirates, Gauteng Department of Education.

The Cotton On Foundation, in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Department of Basic Education (DBE) handed over a Mandela Day Container Library to the Batsogile Primary in Klipspruit-Soweto, Johannesburg.
Happy Science, a Tokyo-based international religious organisation, handed over a Mandela Day Container Library to Tshifudi Primary School in Tshifudi Village, Vhembe Municipality, Limpopo, in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation (NMF). After the passing of Mr. Nelson Mandela, Happy Science established HS Nelson Mandela Fund as its internal fund in order to advance in the will of Mr. Mandela; aiming to nurture future leaders of the world and support people who cannot receive education due to poverty, or racial, gender and caste discrimination, people who are opposed by their government and people who cannot receive medical treatment.
