On 2 Dec 2018 the Executive Mayor of Cape Town, Ald Dan Plato switched on the festive lights at 20:30 where 80 000+ residents and tourists enjoyed the concert, festive lights and video mapping display on the City Hall wall of the theme. On 2 Dec 2018 the theme was: Cape Town, City of Inspiration. Madiba’s life of hope was displayed with the centenary message: Be the Legacy.

This item consists of an envelope addressed to the legal firm of Pillay Seedat & Co. For security reasons, Judge Pillay had a family member mail an empty envelope to the firm. This precaution was taken to protect Mac Maharaj and Judge Pillay in the event of an interrogation by Security Police. The Judge could then say that he had received the documents from an unknown source through the post.

In the mid-1970s, an appeal by IDAF to the exiled community in the United Kingdom led to the gradual retrieval of outstanding amateur film footage - largely unedited 8mm and 16mm material of key events of South African political history. Most of these films and videos were banned in South Africa before 1990.
