Dialogue on Nelson Mandela the Lawyer, 2018.10.11, Houghton: [Set of 41 Still Images]

A roundtable dialogue dedicated to Madiba the Lawyer in which it unloaded the ethics and values that characterised his life and profession and its relevance for reshaping the ethical character of the legal profession today. The event was organised by the Nelson Mandela Foundation in collaboration with ProBono, the panellists were Lwando Xaso, Sahm Venter, and Albie Sachs. Participants of the dialogue where young South African lawyers. The dialogue started by the panellist discussing their own views on Nelson Mandela the lawyer then followed by the members of the audience interacting and asking the panellist questions.

Nelson Mandela recorded message on A dream for schools for Africa campaign. The initiative of the NMF in collaboration with UNICEF and the Hamburg society . The campaign seeks to address the challenges on education by building child friendly schools for a better future for the children in Africa. Madiba mentions that no child in Africa, in fact no child anywhere in the world should be denied education. The special focus will be on girls, orphans and vulnerable children in six African countries Angola, Malawi, Mozambique,Rwanda, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Nelson Mandela message on Emerging voices, a study that focuses on rural communities participating in highlighting the challenges that they are facing regarding rural schools and education. Madiba thanks the communities for their participation and mentions that education provides people with life skills that provide people with life changing opportunities. The study seeks to address and overcome the challenges in the quality of education that prevail in rural area and rural poverty as opposed to the urban area. The message was first played in a rural education event in Limpopo.

Jurgen Schaderberg shares his early memories of Madiba as the ANC volunteer in chief, as well as when Madiba was involved with other people participating in the defiance campaign. Photos of the deacidification of the Nelson Mandela Foundation (NMF) Archive in four folders taken by Lucia Raadschelders and Razia Saleh. The first folder contains photos of the training staff members by Chief Librarian Isaac Nkadimeng, Christian Legodi and Magretia Masebe of the South African Library, Tshwane.
The second folder shows loaded crates ready to be transported to the National Library. The third folder shows photos of Canadian interns, Jamila Ghaddar and Katrina Cohen-Palacios dusting and returning materials to their boxes after being treated at the National Library. A visit by two World Economic Forum delegates Alekhine Veloso and David Conolly and Mpumi Mabuza from Brand South Africa to the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
