1 page of a printed desk calendar with handwritten notes covering the year of 1981. The calendar was used as a diary by Nelson Mandela while in prison and contains entries concerning matters such as visits, dreams, films, books, personal health and politics.

L.P. most popular in Cape & ANC & N.I.C. led among Durban’s Indians.
In JHB ANC took 47%, Inkatha 20%, Azapo 17%, non 8% for PAC.
In C.T. L.P. received 30%, ANC 8%, & 6% for NEUM, Azapo 2%, P.A.C. none.
L.P.’s support was strongest amongst the unskilled class, falling to 28% among clerical & skilled workers & 22 per cent among the professional & self-employed classes.
By contrast ANC support came from the younger, more affluent groups as among Africans.
Almost all the supporters were under 40 & had Std VIII education.
L.P. supporters tended to be older & 70% had Std VII education or less.
Among C.T. Coloured people, ANC leader NM led the figures in the poll, & was closely followed by leader of the L.P. AH.
