Judge Richard Goldstone was appointed as chair of the Commission of Inquiry Regarding the Prevention of Public Violence and Intimidation in October 1991 by President F W de Klerk, to investigate political violence and intimidation that occurred between July 1991 and 1994 general election that ended apartheid in South Africa. It became known as the Goldstone Commission
