White, rolled certificate housed in an ornate red fabric covered box with gold asian designs and white peg closures. Interior is lined with yellow fabric and has 4 ribobns that tie certificate into box.
Certificate includes the multi-coloured shield and motto of the University of Hong Kong. The certificate is written in black and red text and reads:
In Pursuance of the University made on the thirteenth day of July , two thousand and one the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws was conferred on Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela on the Twenty-first day of March, Two-Thousand and Two
