Archival history

The notebooks were confiscated from Nelson Mandela's cell on Robben Island and sent to Donald Card, a former policeman. He kept them at his home, and in September 2004 he handed them over to Mandela. Mandela then deposited it with the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
