Comune di Campi Bisenzio has dedicated a garden to Nelson Mandela. The dedication was part of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human rights. The Comune of Campi Bisenzio is a Town of roughly 47000 people and is part of the Metropolitan area of Florence.
As a symbol of diplomacy and dialogue, the installation pays tribute to Nelson Mandela and his efforts to bring people together to find effective solutions for peace. The installation will remain at the Headquarters’ plaza through September 2018, when the plan is to transfer it to Oslo and a permanent location near the Nobel Peace Center and the Oslo City Hall.

Budapest establishes a memorial park in honour of Nelson Mandela on the northern slope of Gellért Hill, the Mayor’s Office. Nelson Mandela Park, occupying 5,000sqm of lawns and a wooded area, will be the city’s first permanent landscaped artwork. On the 5th of December 2023 at the theatre, the Nelson Mandela Foundation honoured the 10th anniversary of Madiba’s passing and hosted the Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture, with Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai as the speaker.
The largest cable-stayed bridge in South Africa (284m). Links the cultural precinct of Newtown and Braamfontein with other key areas identified in the inner city renewal project of the City of Johannesburg. The bridge was opened by Nelson Mandela in 2003. It won an award for outstanding civil engineering achievement by the South African Institute of Civil Engineers (SAICE).
