A mural commemorating Nelson Mandela's visit to Montreal 30 years ago was unveiled in the city's Sud-Ouest borough. It was painted at the Union United Church on Delisle street one of the oldest Black congregations in Canada and the place where Mandela spoke on this trip to the city in 1990.
The graphic features the continent of Africa in the shape of a fist, filled with the colours of the South African flag. Mr Mandela's name and this birth and death years have been added.

As a symbol of diplomacy and dialogue, the installation pays tribute to Nelson Mandela and his efforts to bring people together to find effective solutions for peace. The installation will remain at the Headquarters’ plaza through September 2018, when the plan is to transfer it to Oslo and a permanent location near the Nobel Peace Center and the Oslo City Hall.
